Electrostatics
Electrostatic potentials accumulated on the body, or on metal and plastic objects are a nuisance to personnel and pose a threat to the reliability of integrated circuits in electronic manufacturing processes. Many environments experience difficulties from electrostatic discharge, including electronics manufacturing, industrial process and office environments. Increasingly stringent customer requirements for high product reliability at component level, as well as at system level, pose new challenges to quality conscious manufacturers.
From garage forecourts to petrochemical plants, the Compliance Engineering International team has gained an in-depth knowledge of this specialist area and international compliance standards. Carried out in our laboratory and on-site, we provide measurement surveys and assistance with the design of Electrostatic Protected Areas (EPAs) to control levels in line with standards including EN 100015, EN61340 series (protection of electronic devices from electrostatic phenomena) and EN60079-32-2 (explosive atmospheres, electrostatics hazards. Our team help manufacturers ensure their processes comply with adequate quality systems.
Our services include:
Electrostatic Protected Areas (EPA) design
Resistance to ground
Human body potential measurements
Resistivity of floors and other items
We also provide ancillary services such as vibration (IP) testing and machinery safety to complete your compliance requirements.

EPA design and testing is essential to ensure compliance to standards such as EN 61340.
